You will use your extensive knowledge of systems, network, storage, automation, and capacity planning to help plan build and operate fast growing systems.
Manage automation across physical and virtual systems
Optimize performance and reliability of Linux systems
Plan, implement and operate the design and deployment of systems automation
Plan, develop, implement monitoring systems to alert about problems
Manage vendors by producing clear and supported bug reports and troubleshooting problems
Produce periodic status reports on utilization, progress, downtime, performance and costs
Work with capacity planning and sales to ensure support needed growth
Gather historical trends to use for forecasting growth.
Troubleshoot performance problems
Work with service teams to optimize performance
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or higher in Computer Science, Engineering Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
4+ years experience preferred with direct experience either as a systems administrator, systems engineer, virtualization help desk or similar
Proficient and fluent in linux environments, able to automate tasks from command line shell scripts
Somewhat proficient in the Python and Shell scripting programming languages with at least 3+ years experience developing code in these languages
Experience with storage systems across various areas including FiberChannel, iSCSI, NFS, RAID, ZFS, AoE, JBODs, SATA, Caching, SSDs
Ability to communicate technical detail into succinct and fact-based business terminology, both verbally and in writing
Customer-focused mindset, with demonstrated skill in managing expectations, providing proactive status updates, and producing high-quality work product
Ability to use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute in a methodical and disciplined manner
Aversion to buzzwords
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work independently and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
Work experience in data center, telecom, SaaS, or cloud operations companies.
Proficiency with modeling systems
Proficiency with current cloud technologies
Experience with applications like Kafka, Cassandra, Postgress, Mysql, Splunk, Redis, and languages such as Python, Go, C++.
Understand network concepts like MAC, IP, DNS, Subnets, VLANs
Proficient with various computer system and networking vendors such as Dell, SuperMicro, Arista, Ubuntu, VMWare, Palo Alto, Juniper, NetApp, Cisco, HP, etc..
