The County of Chester, Adult Probation Department is accepting applications for an Adult Probation Officer. The Adult Probation Officer I is responsible for the supervision of adult offenders that have been granted parole or probation by the Court. The purpose of this supervision is to prevent the client from re-offending and enforce compliance with court-mandated sanctions.
Provide ongoing supervision includes maintaining regular contact with the defendant, monitoring compliance with any special conditions imposed by the Court, ensuring community safety, identifying violations and taking appropriate action on them.
Maintain contact with family members, victims, police departments, and other probation/parole departments, constables, judges and district justices.
Gather information through interviews with defendants, victims, court and police departments, and telephone calls to various agencies, businesses, etc.
Ensure that all information pertaining to the case is well documented, thorough and accurate.
Prepare written reports, which must be completed one week before the defendant's sentencing date.
Perform urinalysis and breathalyzer testing on defendants.
Counsel offenders on criminal behavior and refer defendants to counseling programs, as needed.
- Identify the need for treatment in drug/alcohol substance abuse, mental health disease, and anger management.
- Bachelor's Degree with major coursework emphasis in Administration of Justice/Criminal Justice or one of the Social Sciences. Minimum of one year of experience in the Criminal Justice field or related experience.
Full-Time / Non-Exempt
Salary range available beginning at $41,804.00 annually based on education and experience.
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
