Manufacturing Systems Supervisor

General Qualifications:
-
Must have a 4-year business degree OR five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing, procurement or accounting environment OR three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing setting as an order processor.

Preference will be given to candidate with at least two (2) years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity or five (5) years in a team lead capacity, but consideration will be given to otherwise qualified candidates developing their management skills by participating in the Companys internal leadership training.

Must have the ability to be open minded to change and advancing the most efficient processes for the organization as a whole.
Specific Knowledge Requirements:
-
Must be experienced and knowledgeable about the inventory and manufacturing transactional process, such as purchasing, receiving, bills of material, production orders, sales orders, transfers, adjustments, and discrepancy resolution;
- Must have working knowledge of accounting practices relative to the manufacturing process;

Must have working knowledge of ISO documentation requirements;
-
Must have working knowledge of manufacturing planning, material requirements planning (MRP), scheduling and routed operations;
-
Must possess the analytic skills required to recognize new issues, perform a root cause analysis, craft an effective corrective action, form a departmental strategy, organize a new process, or advance an existing process;

Must have practical experience as a user in a large-scale company-wide ERP system;
-
Must have direct experience as a user in a Microsoft Windows-based operating environment with concentration in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook within the Microsoft Office suite.

Must be willing to work hours that coincide with those of the shop floor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Work with the Manager of SSG to ensure the objectives of the sub-department are understood and that a plan exists to meet them, with periodic communication regarding progress.
-
Ensure that the manufacturing systems process, including all supporting operations, is executed consistently and completely, and make staffing, systems changes and other adjustments as needed to deliver results.
-
Perform daily management of manufacturing systems staff, including the selection of assignments, performance monitoring and reporting, personnel issues, seating location and scheduling.

Participate in the hiring process of new manufacturing systems staff.
-
For direct reports, set goals, assist with professional development, perform improvement coaching, conduct reviews, enforce disciplinary measures if required, and participate in the termination process when applicable.

For direct reports, monitor and approve weekly timecards through the Kronos timekeeping system.
-
Participate in the expansion of the practice to internally manufacture drill and tool blanks.
-
Participate in plant meetings and initiatives.
- Ensure the running of periodic registers.
-
Ensure that departmental purchasing and receiving discrepancies are resolved timely and accurately.
-
Ensure that month-end activities are completed timely and accurately.
-
Maintain ISO documents, such as work instructions, training material, and reference documents.
-
Help to maintain customer special instructions.
- Help to maintain data in internally written software and databases.
- Generate reports by using various databases and programs.
- Monitor and expedite orders to meet delivery dates or customer demands.
-
Oversee the entry, modification, confirmation and adjustments to all production orders flowing through the department by interacting with and gathering data from department personnel and the Product Engineering Group.
- Troubleshoot issues regarding manufacturing orders.
-
Oversee communication with Product Engineering, Inside Sales, Plant Supervisors, Accounting, IT, and Procurement.

Maintain supplies and approve the purchase of non-stocked expensed items for the department.
- Oversee the maintenance of department inventory, including item characteristics, bin locations, lead times, costs, order points and order quantities.

Oversee the maintenance of department parent bills of material.
-
Prepare for and conduct physical inventories and periodic cycle counts, ensuring accuracy of all department counts.
- Perform root cause analysis on errors and system weaknesses.

Train other employees in the ERP aspects of manufacturing systems.

Perform any transactions within the scope of the departments responsibility.

Perform other relevant duties as deemed appropriate from time to time.
