Role and Responsibilities
We’re searching for a Product Manager to join the Smartphone Product Management team within the HHP (Handheld Products) Product Management group at Samsung Electronics America. This position will be based in Plano, TX.
The Smartphone Product Management team is organized under the Vice President of Product Management. This team is tasked with developing and executing the go-to-market strategy for all Smartphone devices in the US market. This includes product planning, value proposition definition, situation analysis, creating business cases, driving go-to-market plans, product marketing, and leading cross-functional teams to execute those plans.
The Product Manager will lead product management responsibilities for Samsung’s category defining innovation flagship products such as the Galaxy fold. As product manager, he/she will lead interactions with HQ around planning of future product as well as communication with key accounts to secure sell-in of newly developed smartphones.
The position will require a blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, and organizational influence. Key success factors in this role include strong project management skills, attention to detail, statistics/finance acumen, enthusiasm, a self-starter attitude, practicality, agility, collaboration and communication. Our business is evolving—we are looking for a creative and dynamic individual to bring a fresh approach to help drive the business.
This role will report to the Director of Smartphone Product Management. You will have significant interaction and work collaboratively with the business planning, supply chain management, marketing, retail, finance, legal, product development, customer support, HR teams, and frequently interact with Senior Leaders within and outside the organization.
- Play key role in development of future smartphone products for US market and positioning those products to key customers
- Work with SEA Account teams to ensure sell in of new products •Formulate GTM strategies for all new products and execute /project manage launch operations
- Manage consumer insights platform
- Masters’ degree preferably in Business, Technology, or related field
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Strong preference for experience within software or other technology companies, public company experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with people in a variety of corporate roles
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Solid financial acumen, and creation and use of business metrics and market research
Skills and Qualifications
Work is generally performed in an office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between 50% - 95% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position. Consistently demonstrates a commitment to policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities.
