The person in this role will be responsible for interfacing with customers, especially in the Silicon Valley, to define needs, viable solutions and prototyping concepts in the field of high speed, high frequency communication. This person will be directly involved with projects to demonstrate our capabilities to meet customer needs and gain acceptance of concepts. The role will also include defining the best approaches to the characterization of test structures, with the goal of both understanding consumer electronics customer product designs and providing feedback required by the customer, with particular attention to high-frequency devices and applications, including 5G. The activity will include defining the appropriate test fixtures, designing layouts, running appropriate simulations, running important tests in person, and suggesting new and better ways of improving both customer test structures and their method of characterization. The Engineer will work closely with the materials development team to help provide the best solution to the customers, as well as assisting the business development team in aligning on the best possible product roadmap for longer term.
While this position includes a dedicated attention to high-frequency applications, the Engineer will be expected to maintain versatility and adapt to multiple changing applications in a fast-paced environment
Direct interactions and problem solving with customers
Ability to understand different customer and product designs, gaining insight in what is critical in each case
Develop test systems, simulations, protocols and/or algorithms to validate materials performance towards the customer needs
Hands-on support in the DuPont Silicon Valley Technology Center applications lab
Interface with the Materials Development team to provide feedback and help direct improvements
Interface with the Business Development team to better understand each customer and application needs. Leverage the learning to drive characterization the most efficient way across customers and platforms
Support the Business Development team towards a gradual definition of a product roadmap, which will differ by application
Master’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in consumer electronics product design, and/or characterization, including direct experience in high-frequency (double-digit GHz) applications preferred
Experience in participating in, and leading customer, interactions preferred
Strong hands-on experience in measurement tools and protocols, characterization and modeling
Willing and able to promote change interfacing with different stakeholders
Ability to handle different projects in parallel, maintaining focus on each and leveraging cross-project learnings
Basic software automation skills a plus but not required
Effective communication skills and the ability to work and influence across multiple functions
