Mason & Hanger is currently seeking a dynamic Mechanical Engineer for our Glen Allen, VA office that shares our corporate vision, mission and values. The ideal candidate will have technical skills in HVAC design and engineering. The position will exercise independent judgment to convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting information set forth in basis of design as well as information gathered from users, other consultants, field surveys and code research. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated technical skill in designing facility HVAC systems and components, conducting HVAC load calculations, energy studies, and selection/specification of major equipment.
Based on Candidate competency and experience, the title of Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT), Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Project Engineer will be awarded.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
4+ years’ experience designing HVAC building systems in technically sophisticated facilities.
Familiar with systems selection and load analysis.
Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
PE License or ability to become licensed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of Trane Trace commercial load calculation program.
Construction observation experience to understand HVAC systems installation.
Familiar with Plumbing design and knowledge of International Plumbing Code.
Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks).
Ability to travel internationally
