THIS IS A TEMPORARY GRANT FUNDED POSITIONThe New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is committed to increasing opportunities for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers by providing safe, affordable housing and facilitating access to social and community services. NYCHA?s Department of Resident Economic Empowerment & Sustainability (REES) is charged to develop and implement programs, policies and collaborations to measurably support residents? increased economic opportunities in the following four areas: asset building, employment, adult education and training, and business development. REES is seeking a highly motivated Outreach Specialist to manage recruitment, marketing, partner relations, and data tracking for a joint initiative called Tech 51. This newly designed program is specifically tailored to ensure that individuals receiving public assistance and residing in public housing have increased access to a career path in the technology industry. Selected candidate will be provided with the technical and career skills to thrive in IT programs such as software development programs in mobile and cyber security courses. The Outreach Specialist will report to the Assistant Director of Adult Education and Training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Provide information and engage target population.2. Oversee all aspects of recruitment to include: creating flyers, tabling, updating social media and visiting community centers located near NYCHA developments.3. Ensure website, resources and materials are up to date with accurate neighborhood information. 4. Host Information Sessions and assist on-site partners during the assessment process.5. Serve as liaison for REES with various constituencies such as resident leaders, resident associations and collaborative partners.6. Work with partners and REES team to identify best practices that support the annual outcomes for REES. Research and share community economic development best practices with partner organizations and REES staff.7. Maintain electronic databases and prepare statistical reports.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Preferred Skills

1. Commitment and demonstrated experience working with NYCHA residents.2. Skilled at working independently with minimal supervision.3. Able to physically handle the demands of extensive travel throughout the five boroughs (via public transportation).4. Proven experience using data to define and achieve outcomes.
