Lead, develop, implement, provide support, and coordinate the Michigan Paving and Materials Human Resources function including but not limited to talent management, career development, policy and procedure administration, benefits administration, employee relations and other duties as necessary. This position will report directly to the President of Michigan Paving and Materials, Inc. with a dotted line to the Region Vice President, Human Resources.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the Michigan Paving and Materials human resource function and performance.
Build trust and establish credibility at all levels of the companies as well as HR professionals in the other North Division companies and the OMG corporate office.
Conceive, design and execute HR initiatives in support of the strategic business plan.
Develop talent management strategy, identify leadership competencies, conduct gap analysis, and collaborate with leadership team to develop a talent pipeline/succession plan.
Provide effective talent and performance management coaching to leadership team and company president.
Partner with the Oldcastle Recruiting Center to enhance recruitment strategy to attract top talent, improve bench strength for the Region.
Identify and participate in career fairs to improve candidate pool for the Region.
Assist in identifying and creating development plans for all associates.
Manage functional group that administers HR generalist activities, compliance, and benefits administration for the company.
Drive the annual performance management process (goal setting, mid-year coaching, year-end reviews).
Run analytic reports for Human Resources personnel and leadership team as needed to ensure timely completion of each phase throughout the year.
Communicate all updates and/or initiatives to appropriate Regional Presidents and employee base as necessary.
Coordinate and funnel all HR related compliance requests and information to OMG Corporate (i.e. Code of Conduct, EEO/AA, etc.) and the appropriate personnel.
Provide guidance to all levels of management with policy interpretation and division expectations.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
5+ years working in Talent Management, Training/Development and/or Human Resources
3 or more years working in a HR leadership capacity – Talent Management, Recruiting or Generalist
Strong employee relations background working with Union and non-Union facilities
Must be willing to travel and work away from home base when required
Ability to work independently and get work done through others using effective influencing skills, delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
Highly developed verbal, written and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
