About our position: The Certified Nursing Assistant-CNA performs a variety of health-related services to SNJM Sisters living in the Portland area.
Hours: Day shift, 32 hours per week or 24 hours per week - your choice
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides personal care for Sisters who live in the Provincial House. Services may include ADL/ IADL areas, wound care, and taking of vital signs. Records and reports vital signs and other medical information to Clinical Care Coordinator.
- Communicates observations of changes to a Sister’s health or well-being to Clinical Care Coordinator.
- Provides emotional support to enable Sisters to live independently and adapt to changing health conditions.
- As appropriate drives and accompanies Sisters to medical appointments: providing companionship as Sisters receive medical services.
- Assists with SNJM sponsored activities.
- Provide support as needed for funeral receptions or other community Masses.
- Other related duties as needed and/or directed by SNJM Clinical Care Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as CNA.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Must be supportive of the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

- Must be able to respect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with SNJM Sisters, staff, and external contacts.
- High degree of flexibility in carrying out work assignments.
- Ability to self-initiate work, manage work time effectively and follow through on work assignments.
- Ability to work in a patient and understanding manner with an elder population who may be ill, disabled, hospitalized, and/or suffering from dementia.
- Ability to respond to stressful situations appropriately and calmly.
- Basic English language skills (speaking, reading, writing).
- Requires valid driver’s license and evidence of personal insurance in accord with SNJM guidelines.
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office software.
