We can offer you outstanding career opportunities working for a first-class group of clients. This position is for an entry-level structural engineer in the Sargent & Lundy Nuclear Power Group.
This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic studies and experience in Structural Engineering in a professional position offering a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities.
As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will have the ability to directly apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design
As a member of an engineering and design team, you will work on a wide range of structural engineering projects, creating calculations and developing design documents for new structures and modifications to existing structures
You will use structural analysis software and design tools such as 3D-modeling and you will have the opportunity to learn advanced analysis techniques
You will perform analysis and design for a variety of structures, including steel buildings, frame and support structures, reinforced concrete buildings, and foundation elements as well as connections, base plates, anchorage and many other structural engineering activities
Additional opportunities will include:
Receiving training and mentorship from experienced structural engineers in the execution of meaningful engineering assignments
Traveling to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Exposure to nuclear specific codes and standards not used in commercial applications

Essential skills and experience:
This position requires a BS or MS from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with emphasis in Structural Engineering
Strong academic background in the behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
An understanding of the practical application of structural engineering including applying principles, tools and techniques to structural design
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC and ACI 318
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desire to learn
Valued, but not required:
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training
Related engineering internship or co-op work experience
Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, SAFE or ANSYS
