Resident Engineer/Resident Project Representative

Salary Range - $87,360 - $114,400 based on experience ($42/hr-$55/hr)

Salary Position (exempt, eligible for overtime compensation at straight-time overtime)

Position will be based out of Itasca, IL office; corporate headquarters (western Chicago suburbs, near Schaumburg & O’Hare Airport)

Job Duties:

  • Serve as resident engineer/resident project representative on roadway/transportation construction projects for IDOT or Local Agency (Municipality, Divisions of Transportation) projects, either locally-funded or state/federally-funded
  • Provide guidance, leadership and training to inspection team (construction engineers, inspectors, document technicians)
  • Communicate with clients, contractors and the public
  • Oversee/manage construction project from start to finish including demolition, underground utility installation, traffic staging operations, traffic signal installation, roadway paving (PCC or HMA).
  • Oversee projects according to schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee work assignments, reviews and staff.
  • Lead weekly progress meetings with client & contractor
  • Participate in resolution of design, field, and scheduling issues
  • Regional (Chicago Metro area) travel required to jobsite – company vehicle will be provided
  • Documentation of all quantities in ICORS
  • Preparation of Pay Estimates
  • Preparation of Change Order Authorizations
  • Project Closeout/Resolve Material Deficiencies

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Fully Eligible to Work in U.S. (BLA will not/does not sponsor Visas)
  • 7+ years professional engineering experience
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Resident Engineer for IDOT or Local Agency projects
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Ability to lead teams in a collaborative environment
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • IDOT Documentation Certified
  • ICORS Experience Required
