Create music teacher that is able to manage and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for elementary aged students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. Participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the school, and collective /individual interest of its staff and student body. Actively participate in professional development, practice self-assessment, reflective practice and strive for continuous improvement.
Planning & Preparation:
Formalize lesson plans weekly for upcoming instructional period: then modify, as needed, based on feedback gained through implementation and evaluation process.
Prepare assignments and needed materials before the beginning of each activity.
Relate instructional objectives to NLCI elementary curriculum standards and demonstrate effective decision-making concerning instructional goals.
Determine students’ performance using informal and formal testing and observation, when appropriate.
Implements recommendations from Parent Assurance Reviews (PAR) and Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR), as required by the Principal.
The Classroom Environment:
Maintain a physical environment (indoors and outdoors) which is safe, healthy, neat, attractive, clean, appropriate for students and conducive to learning.
Develop and implement an appropriate classroom management system including classroom routines and orderly transition strategies for students.
Aid student in developing self-confidence and a positive self-image by providing an environment of acceptance and support for each student.
Encourage initiative and a sense of responsibility for learning in students.
Provide opportunities for creating learning.
Effectively implement NLCI elementary curriculum content, standards, and best practice teaching methodologies including technology.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support and enhance the instructional program.
Give directions both verbally and visually, when appropriate.
Present lessons in a clear, well-organized and logical structure, using a clear, easily understood voice that embraces enthusiasm and optimism.
Provide students with teacher modeling, guided practice and scaffolding and support that allows students to move towards demonstrating skills and competencies independently.
Integrate the 21st Century Skills of collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking into daily learning activities.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of subject matter and utilize technology as required to support student learning.
Model standard English speech and use correct grammar at all times.
Use a variety of instructional materials such as contextual, supplemental, teacher-constructed, teaching bulletin boards, audio-visual, hands-on, discovery and activity-based learning.
Provide activities that actively engage students in learning tasks, which are related to curriculum goals.
Use inquiry and higher order questions and probes to elicit student responses at various cognitive levels.
Provide time and attention equitably among all students while circulating freely and spontaneously around the classroom.
Reflect an attitude and behaviors that value diversity and a growth mindset
Provide visual and auditory prompts and charts within the classroom environment to support student learning
Provide for varied levels of student performance including multi-level teaching and accommodations, when appropriate.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience & Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in the specialty to be taught or equivalent.
Teacher credential as specified under state regulations.
Advanced degree in education preferred.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with technology and commitment to the unique role it plays in the educational arena of the 21st Century.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills. Creates a responsive and productive working relationship with parents, children, teachers, other staff and the local community by remaining accessible and communicating clearly and concisely.
Utilizes technology to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the administrative team.
