The Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center, part of Montgomery County's Office of Community Partnerships (OCP), is seeking three part-time (20 hours/week) positions.

Working together with employees of government agencies and service providers, the Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center aims to make Montgomery County one of America's most welcoming communities. The Gilchrist Center currently has four locations: Wheaton, Gaithersburg, Germantown and East County. Each of the three positions will be assigned to a specific work location, however, applicants must have the flexibility and ability to work in all locations.

These are newly-created merit positions with benefits, working as Customer Service Representatives (Information and Referral Specialist) providing customers with diverse cultural and linguistical backgrounds with information about and referral to programs and services that meet their needs. These positions will also be providing administrative and programmatic support to program managers.

Duties include:
Provide information and referrals in a culturally competent manner to immigrant residents regarding available services and programs provided by government agencies and community organizations
Identify issues via active listening, answering questions and providing suggestions to clients as to how to address issues
Research, collect, organize and disseminate referral and resource information
Use effective communication with prospective and existing volunteers, staff and partner agency staff
Prepare for, coordinate and attend outreach events to give information about the Center and other programs that would benefit immigrant residents as a representative of the Gilchrist Center
Serve as an interpreter for non-English speaking clients
Coordinate programs: creating flyers using Microsoft Word, assisting with program registration and program coordination, volunteer support, etc.
Conduct routine front desk duties, including answering phones, photocopying, organizing information
Provide administrative support including accurate data collection using Excel and SharePoint, photocopying, supply orders, facility booking, mailing, etc.
Manage facilities, including arranging facility maintenance and booking rooms for partners and Gilchrist programs
Coordinate volunteer recruitment
Compile, organize, reconcile and analyze data to maintain a variety of reports and databases on program services and activities
T rain and supervise part-time hourly staff and volunteers

If the candidate selected for this position possesses multilingual skills, he/she will be required to successfully pass an examination assessing oral communication, reading comprehension, and interpreting skills.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent customer service, organizational, communication and administrative skills; be respectful of others' opinions, listen well and respond to colleagues and customers with awareness of and sensitivity to communication differences and must have a strong commitment to inclusion and respect for all cultures. Ability to work on teams AND independently is a must for the position.

This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: One (1) year of responsible experience performing a wide variety of general clerical, public contact, and customer service work providing information and/or directing request over the telephone and at a public counter.

Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
