BR&T Materials & Manufacturing Technology is looking for an engineer for our Composite Fabrication Technology group. Responsibilities will have an emphasis on supporting the design, development, demonstration and transition of innovative composite materials, processes, tooling and technologies to support Boeing’s commercial and military programs.

In this position, the candidate will work under the leadership of a senior engineer, to conduct and communicate results of technology development efforts to advance the state of the art, resolve technical concerns, mature emerging technologies and enable implementation of new composite fabrication technologies into production. This hands-on position requires astute attention to detail and safety in both a lab and production environment with specific assignments that may include process development, automation systems for composite fabrication, and tooling for composites. These efforts may also include coordination or collaboration with BCA program partners in the development or transfer of enabling fabrication technologies.

Job Responsibilities:
Collect information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products
Incorporate changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes
Perform tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conduct basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions
Develop basic computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements. Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
Experience in a lab/machine ship or clean-room environment
Ability to work with a team of MP&P employees to meet safety, schedule, cost, quality, and technical commitments

Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
