We're seeking a Communications Manager to drive media relations strategy for community programs and initiatives at Facebook. This person will work closely with a wide range of internal and external partners to drive storytelling efforts related to community leaders who are building supportive and safe communities on Facebook.

The position requires a deep understanding of the press and a demonstrated track record of proactively identifying storytelling opportunities with tangible results in both local media markets as well as on the national level. The ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution for long-term and short-term media relations is necessary. This role also requires a passion for Facebook, its mission and community-building overall, as well as the ability to provide communications support and creative counsel for community leader partners.

Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work cross-functionally and successfully oversee proactive and reactive community communications efforts. Candidates should be adept at building relationships with press and key stakeholders, and have excellent organizational skills. This role requires high levels of creativity and strategic thinking, as you'll be contributing to overall media strategy for a variety of partners and verticals, including new and developing priorities.

This is a full-time position located at in Menlo Park, California or San Francisco, California.
Build relationships and engage with press, bloggers, and influencers from a range of outlets such as consumer, business, non-profit, tech and more
Identify, create and execute opportunities to connect community leaders on Facebook and company spokespeople with press to drive our community narrative
Develop ongoing media relations strategy to elevate community leaders and their stories
Cross-functional efforts: Work closely with various Facebook teams to drive proactive and reactive strategy
Work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
Travel up to 20%
Bachelor’s degree
8+ years work experience in communications, journalism or related field
Experience with strategic communications, executive communications, project management, and thought leadership
Experience in project management or programs
Experience with product launches
Mix of agency and in-house experience
Experience with crisis communications
Experience in consumer technology or consumer products
Experience working with internal cross-functional partners
