Teachers are responsible for the supervision and management of a classroom in accordance with the goals and curriculum plan of the Preschool and report directly to the Director with any questions, issues, or concerns.
· Maintain a positive and loving Christian atmosphere in the classroom.
· Plan and conduct an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, and emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of each child. This should be accomplished based on the goals and general curriculum plan of the Preschool.
· Ensure childcare routines are carried out in a prompt, hygienic and consistent manner with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, potty training, hand washing, eating, napping, and transitions between activities.
· Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures.
· Operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, paying particular attention to ensure standards prohibiting corporal punishment are obeyed.
· Work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Monitor children throughout the day to always ensure safety.
· Maintain clear open communication with coworkers & families while maintaining confidentiality.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· State-mandated 45-hour DCF training.
· Maintain a minimum of 10 hours annually of in-service.
· CDA, Director’s, or AA/AS in Early Education a plus.
Prefer Applicant possess one of the following:
· A college degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education with previous teaching experience in a preschool program.

· Able to perform the job of a teacher of young children (i.e. Lift a 50 lb. preschooler).

· Provide experiences which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play and creativity.
· Provide experience involving thinking skills such as generalizing, classifying, sorting, and problem solving.
· Provide a variety of opportunities to help children develop and understand appropriate relationships with others.
· Ensure parents receive adequate information concerning their child’s experiences at the preschool through daily contact and regularly scheduled parent conferences.
· Maintain written records designed to evaluate each individual child as well as the class.
· Contribute to the operation of the Preschool by participating staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional seminars.
· Work as a member of a team to ensure continuity of curriculum and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the Preschool.
· In cooperation with the Preschool Director, plan with other church leaders/teachers who use the same room to ensure maximum benefit of the facilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
