LumaCyte, LLC is biotechnology instrumentation designer and manufacturer located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our mission is to provide researchers with a transformational diagnostic tool that accelerates medical and pharmaceutical discoveries through novel single cell analysis and sorting. We provide hardware and software solutions that enable cell biologists, biomedical researchers, pharmaceutical, and other biotechnology companies to characterize, select, and sort cell samples.

LumaCyte, LLC seeks a LabVIEW Software Developer to assist in the design, development, and support of all the company's software. Core responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with other developers, engineers, and scientists to implement services and user interfaces
  • Fixing bugs and implementing feature requests
  • Writing and maintaining code

Skills & Requirements


  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or equivalent with 4+ years of post-academic programming experience or 8+ years of commercial software development experience regardless of education.
  • Experience with the LabVIEW programming language, development environment, and National Instruments ecosystem
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer certification is a minimum requirement
  • Understanding of software development and programming fundamentals, design patterns, and best practices
  • Ability to quickly solve problems
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in common software development infrastructure, such as version control and bug tracking
  • Relocation to Charlottesville, VA


  • Experience with LabVIEW Compact Vision System, Compact Rio, and Soft Motion modules
  • Experience with the following programming languages: C, Lua, Python, and Rust
  • Experience with relational databases (SQLite)
  • Experience developing Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
  • Knowledge of network and socket programming for common protocols and standards
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded programming
  • Knowledge of various data visualization techniques
  • Knowledge of image processing and analysis methodologies
  • Knowledge of web and/or desktop application development, architectures, and technologies
