OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Scanning Image Specialist is responsible to the Supervisor, Support Services for incoming document scanning into clinical information system(s)/EHR(s). This position is a PRN position, however, initially will require 32-40 hours per week initially due to current workload.

Hours are 8am-5pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Represents the Company in a professional manner, following all Company policies and procedures.
Uses, protects, and discloses DaVita Medical Group patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Ensures all documents are prepared for scanning.
Scans document into the EHR scanning systems.
Monitors quality of images, adjusts, contrasts and selects scanner intensity as needed.
Re-scans rejected documents.
Formats reports according to established guidelines.
Troubleshoots computer problems and reports and follows up with the IT Department or Scanning Supervisor immediately.
Compiles statistics reports as directed.
Meets quality and productivity standards and deadlines established by supervisor.
Maintains strict confidentiality of all medical records ensuring that no unauthorized persons have access to patient’s electronic health record.
Adheres to Company policies and procedures at all times.
Maintains continuing quality improvement and assists in the department’s quality management program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance..

EDUCATION:
High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a physician office or hospital is required.
Experience with scanning software and operating scanning equipment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Must be computer literate.
Ability to establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel and clinicians.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently.
