PQC is seeking an Employment Specialist to work in the Elkhart, IN area. The Employment Specialist will assist individuals with employment barriers to obtain and maintain meaningful employment in conjunction to services with Vocational Rehabilitation. Successful candidates will establish relationships with employers and then match those who are looking for work, to those employers.

Responsibilities:

Meet with clients to understand their employment goals, as aligned with Vocational Rehabilitation.

Assess the education, experience, skills and strengths of individuals and assist them in matching those qualities to available employment opportunities.

Employ multiple strategies to be able to effectively coach clients to improve their job search efforts, including; new search techniques, interview preparation, and resume development.

Provide one on one training, conduct skills assessments and facilitate onsite job instruction.

Coach clients on effective professional communication skills, to include self-advocacy, requesting accommodations and interpersonal skills necessary for successful employment.

Monitor, evaluate, and document progress of clients utilizing case management database.

Interacts with employers and local business and develops relationships with other human service agencies.

Able to establish partnerships with area businesses to communicate benefits of program and to develop potential job opportunities for clients.
Qualifications:

1-2 years’ experience in a similar role

Previous experience working with individuals with employment barriers or veterans

Experience developing and implementing employment plans

Knowledge of the community and surrounding area highly preferred

Ability to adhere to regulations and standards

Possess working knowledge of MS Office and Google tools

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Respect to diversity and ability to maintain privacy of clients

Position type: Full Time
Hours: Mon-Friday, hours will be flexible
PTO: 2 weeks annually
Holiday: 7 paid days
