The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing integrity of customer core networking performance including Customer Edge (Not Carrier Side) WAN connectivity (MPLS, P2P, VPLS, Ethernet), Routers, Layer2/3 Switches, Firewalls, Gateway AV/AM, Content Filtering, Bandwidth Management, IPS/IDS, Wireless, VOIP QOS, Storage, vSphere Virtual Switches, etc.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, implementation, and ongoing support of Customer Edge WAN connectivity (MPLS, P2P, VPLS, Ethernet), Routers, Layer2/3 Switches, Firewalls, Gateway AV/AM, Content Filtering, Bandwidth Management, IPS/IDS, Wireless, VOIP QOS, Storage, Virtual Environments, etc.
Administration and continuous maintenance of Auvik remote monitoring and management platform system alerts, notifications, and incident responses and/or remediation accordingly through service tickets
Detailed communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, changes, or outages
Ongoing training to maintain industry knowledge and necessary skillsets
Final Escalation Point for Network Related Outages
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
Business awareness: specific knowledge of the customer and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals
Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
Responsible for entering time and expenses as it occurs
Understand processes in customer support systems by completing assigned training criteria
Work through a daily schedule that has been established through the dispatch process
Work through project tickets and phases as assigned
Enter all work as service tickets into customer support system
Review IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry
Improve customer service, value, and satisfaction
CCNA/CCNP Route/Switch and Security Certifications (Or willingness to obtain within 1 year)
Minimum 1+ years of experience in a similar role
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Layer2/3 Switching, Campus Network Design, Cisco ASA with Firepower, Cisco Meraki MX,MS,MR and other equivalents
Extensive Knowledge of Network Monitoring with platforms such as Solar Winds or equivalent
Knowledge of Nexus is a huge plus
Interpersonal skills: such as communication skills, active listening, and customer-care
Diagnosis skills of technical issues
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately
Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided
Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
