Job Title: Charge Capture Specialist

Summary of Position:
Processes radiology charges for hospital and free-standing locations by utilizing a computerized data base system. Obtains referring physicians and reading radiologists codes. Determines insurance codes. Ensures patient demographics are complete.
Job Responsibilities:
- Employee must adhere to STRG Policies and Procedures at all times
- Code referring physician, insurance, and provider, place of service, date of service
- Complete all interface steps including checking required data fields before adding charges
- Complete all manual steps including uploading documents into Patient Account Repository
- Research auto and worker compensation information needed for billing
- Work daily reports prior to claims spooling (e.g. MPPR, CCI, etc.)
- Complete required steps for clinical research and group bill charge posting
- Log reports pending creation or missing notes for special processes per site as required
- Notify supervisor of any account issues or charges on hold more than 10 days
- Identify invalid/missing codes and follow procedure to forward to Systems Coordinator
- Research and correct as necessary charges identified by daily and special reports
- Work Waystar coding rejections, manual charge entry queue, non-reportable queue, research queue
- Maintain quality and productivity standards
- Complete necessary steps for RIS charge out and OPTUM no payer charges
- Open Service desk tickets as required
- Follow up with facilities to obtain missing radiology reports and/or demographics
- Check and log site schedule logs for completeness
- Complete document shredding as required
- Prepare and box documents for scanning
- Keep time analysis of tasks performed
- Navigate various hospital portals, PACS, RIS databases
- Print batches of radiology report/demographic face sheets as required
- Assist with audits
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient protected health information (PHI) as mandated by STRG procedures and HIPAA Privacy, Security and HITECH regulations
- Perform other duties as required

Experience / Skill Requirements:
One year work experience, preferably in high-volume environment; knowledge of diagnostic coding demonstrated by a score of 90 of higher on a diagnosis code test; basic computer knowledge; use of 10-key by touch with 100 keystrokes per minute scored on 10-key test.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Attendance / Work Schedule:
Maintaining and satisfying minimum attendance requirements is an essential function of this position, including working all full-time regular hours as established for this position and scheduled or emergency overtime. Full-time regular hours are defined as Monday through Friday, with after-hours or weekends as required. All employees in this job classification are required to satisfy this requirement. This job classification does not include "light duty" work or allow unpredictable or unrestricted absences.
