DEPARTMENT: CH - OP Lactation Services.
The Lactation Consultant utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to improve the lactation services available to patients and their families. A selected patient population is the focus of practice. The role is a flexible one, which is implemented with the needs and uniqueness of the specialty area. It includes providing expert care to promote positive patient outcomes and appropriate individualized referral/follow-up care. The LC integrates four sub roles in providing care: expert practice, education, consultation, and research.
An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. 1-2 years of Nursing experience is required. Professional license with State of practice is required. IBCLC and/or CLC Certifications are required.
