The Underwriting Technical Specialist will provide underwriting-related technical support to staff in application of underwriting management policies, practices and procedures. You will collaborate with the VP & Director of Underwriting and assist with developing underwriting best practices as well as identifying trends on business profitability. Conducting internal audits to ensure best practices and quality standards are being met is an important function as is developing and delivering training to underwriting staff.
We’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance or related field; in lieu of a Bachelors Degree four years’ applicable experience is acceptable.
At least 4 years’ experience in underwriting accounts with an emphasis in workers compensation and/or casualty insurance.
Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM) preferred.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Effective organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and work with minimal direction.
Proven ability to analyze and gather complex information Strong presentation skills and the ability to train and teach others. .
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to travel as needed.
Work takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
