With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, work in all phases of large scale, complex domestic and international institutional and mixed-use projects (from 1.8 to 18 million sqft); research domestic and international building codes and regulations to incorporate them in early architectural design; use site photography, diagrams and weather data to develop site analysis studies; develop site design alternatives studies requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital massing and physical site modeling; build physical models using digital fabrication software and laser cutter for design development and presentations; create 3D digital massing, floor plans, space plans, building elevations, sections, detail and axonometric drawings to develop early concept alternatives using Revit, Auto Cad, Rhino, Sketchup, Lumion, Envision, V-ray; apply own judgment, analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites, buildings and client needs; prepare client and public presentation using Photoshop, Indesign, Ilustrator, Power Point, Excel, Word, Bluebeam and free-hand sketching; prepare and incorporate weather data analysis to identify passive design potential based on the local climate and building use to minimize building energy needs and maximize the energy savings; work in conjunction with sustainable design leadership in the continued improvement and development of high performance design to maintain and improve the quality and consistency of design environment and deliverables; incorporate LEED sustainable design principles and prepare LEED documentation to achieve LEED Gold and Silver certification; work on documents for all design phases, including schematic design, design development and construction documents; document architectural plans, elevations and details in imperial and metric standards using 2D/3D modeling programs; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating custom detailing, structural engineering principles and building systems into architectural designs; perform necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise from client, agency or public input; coordinate conceptual design drawings with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), civil, structural, lighting, A/V, telecom, graphics, interiors and landscape consultants to incorporate building systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation and secure client and regulatory approval; use project review software Navisworks to detect, identify and facilitate clashes between architectural, engineering and construction components of the project; assist in the implementation of firm-wide strategies and collaborate with design teams to ensure sustainable design success, provide support and guidance firm-wide, and focus on the seamless rollout of sustainable design implementation in office design projects; assist project managers and project architects with coordinating drawing standards and setting up project team software parameters and manual; collaborate with Project Architect and Design Director to maintain in-progress sets of design development and construction documents; process general contractor’s submittals and change order requests; conduct site visits, field observation and meetings to review the progress of construction; organize, file and distribute documents utilizing Newforma and Newforma Cloud software; respond to Requests for Information (RFI) and prepare Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASI) and Construction Change Directive (CDD).
