The Department of Preventive Medicine is seeking:
A dependable, detail-oriented project specialist-administrative is needed to support administrative functions within large NIH-supported research Centers housed in the Division of Environmental Health at the University of Southern California. Each Center is the core of a major research effort on environmental health with a special focus on respiratory health and air pollution in children. This is an opportunity to work with world-class investigators from USC engaged in studies of the environmental causes of cancer, asthma, lung growth, and genetics. The Centers also have an active community outreach effort helping to apply the best environmental science available to the work of grass roots community groups and national environmental organizations.

This is a challenging and rewarding position. Responsibilities include recommending and establishing data entry and management procedures to prepare, collect, and record or enter data in various databases; performing complex analysis of the data using Excel; making recommendations as result of analysis; verifies database transactions as needed and provide technical support and design enhancements; track expenses for large research projects and provide reports on project spending; gathering documentation and data as needed; interacting with outside vendors to purchase project supplies and equipment; assisting in preparing and editing technical documents if needed; and performing other related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have superb organizational capabilities, problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple projects. Other essential qualifications include attention to detail, strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel are essential), and the ability to work well with different groups, including research faculty and staff. Bachelor’s degree with excellent writing and interpersonal skills are ideal qualifications, although other exceptional candidates will be considered. Professional experience in an administrative setting or research environment is also a plus.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Minimum Experience: 2 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related project or administrative experience.
