Performs manual labor in a variety of work primarily associated with the maintenance of grounds around buildings and facilities, parks and rights-of-way, as well as support special events and assist other crews and work emergencies as needed
Employees in this classification perform semi-skilled manual labor, operate mowing equipment, drive small dump trucks and pick-up size vehicles, perform maintenance on equipment
Assists with special events, snow removal, after-hours emergencies in general
Performs other duties as required
Position is considered “essential personnel”; defined as staff who are required to report to their designated work location during weather related or other emergencies, even when town offices are closed or normal operations are suspended.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Flagger certification within 6 months of employment
Experience in athletic field maintenance, irrigation maintenance and repair, pesticide application preferred
Applicant shall report to work on time and properly dressed in town uniform. Steel-toed safety shoes shall be worn at all times, as well as other safety equipment to be used as directed
Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); occasionally involves heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
