The opportunity:
The Human Resources Representative provides leadership and functional HR generalist support to 3 plant locations within assigned business unit. This position executes HR and business initiatives at the business unit and facility level including, but not limited to, attracting and retaining talent, driving performance management and talent review process, employee relations, training and development, workforce planning/headcount management and workers compensation case management.

Responsibility for facilities in Norcross, GA, Covington, GA, and Kennesaw, GA. Can work primarily out of any three of these locations. Primary office location will be Norcross, GA.
This is a growth position that can lead to various upper management positions.

How you will impact WestRock:

Work closely with management, supervision and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding WestRock policies/practices administration and interpretation to ensure policies and procedures are handled consistently and in a timely manner
Partner with management in finding, attracting and retaining talent
Ensure effective and timely pre-employment and on-boarding activities and requirements for all new or transferring employees
Maintain the Human Resource Information System and Applicant Tracking System to ensure that management has access to appropriate people information to run the business. Provided additional HR data and reports to managers as requested
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required.
Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Ensure that all annual Performance and Talent Reviews are completed in a timely manner and that developmental activities are administered as appropriate. Provide ongoing support as needed. Update key talent data in Talent Management System.
Assist Management in identifying training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.
Works with corporate benefits group to communicate and administer corporate benefits programs to hourly and salaried employees at assigned locations. Act as Benefits Champion during open enrollment period.
Responsible for workers compensation case management and related reporting.

What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or related major; advanced degree and SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or PHR /SPHR designation preferred
3+ years of HR experience preferred; experience managing HR in a manufacturing environment across multiple locations highly desired
Ability to grow into a higher position within the organization
Must be a “hands on" professional with strong employee relations, leadership development, training, performance management, compliance issues, communications, and staffing.
Microsoft office applications suite is required. PeopleSoft or similar HRIS software is a plus
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive
Possess decision-making skills with ability to work independently
Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to provide HR service and support to off shifts, including nights and weekends.
Team player, establishing trust, credibility, and consensus builder
Travel and possible overnight stays are expected to be approximately 30%. Overnight travel would be minimal, as all three plants are within driving distance.
