At Yoakum Community Hospital, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate healthcare services to our community. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Health Information Management/HIPAA Privacy Officer.
In this key leadership role, you will oversee the Health Information Management (HIM) department and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. You will be responsible for managing the medical records system, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient information, and implementing and maintaining policies and procedures related to health information management and privacy.
As the HIPAA Privacy Officer, you will provide guidance and education to staff regarding HIPAA regulations and privacy practices. You will conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and address any potential privacy breaches, and develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent knowledge of health information management principles and HIPAA regulations, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will also possess a deep understanding of electronic health record systems and information technology in healthcare settings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required.
- Minimum of 5 in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and privacy practices.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and information technology in healthcare settings.
Qualifications
- Medical office experience
- Proficiency in EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
- Leadership experience in health information management
- IT skills related to healthcare systems and data security
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36.00 - $45.00 per hour

- Health information management: 5 years (Preferred)
- Leadership: 3 years (Preferred)
- In-Depth Knowledge of HIPAA Regulations & Privacy Practices: 1 year (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record Systems: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- RHIA or RHIT Certification (Required)
Ability to Relocate:
