Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) PM2

Salary Range ($91,500-$122,000) - Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan.
The Job You Will Perform:
This position reports to the PM2 Area Manager in Valliant, Oklahoma. Valliant is a 5,000+ ton per day Containerboard Mill with 3 paper machines, 3 continuous digesters, 3 secondary fiber plants and a utilities/chemical recovery complex. It currently operates with 300 mill employees and 150 contract maintenance employees in a results oriented environment. Objective is to reduce costs and increase productivity by continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance work execution through work prioritization, planning, scheduling, and improvement of the MWS process in a sustainable manner.
Key Functions (include but not limited to):
- Assure a safe and highly motivated workforce by demonstrating leadership in safety and engagement; exhibiting safety leadership and encouraging safety engagement.
- Champion Area Manufacturing Work System (MWS) execution, deliberate improvement efforts, and standardization.
- Coordinate tasks between maintenance and operations to ensure proper planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Facilitate MWS meetings and ensure the daily MWS agenda is strictly followed.
- Leads weekly MWS scheduling meeting to review and prioritize work requests for routine and shutdown work.
- Improve maintenance efficiency by communicating and posting schedules before 3:30pm daily, buffering break-in work, and prioritizing planning and scheduling priorities.
- Coordinate process preparation for maintenance to ensure efficient use of resources. This includes system shutdown, isolation, preparation (area clean-up), system LOTOs, and work permitting.
- Improve mill reliability through the disciplined application of the MWS principles with a major focus not only on overall planning and scheduling quality but also the recording of work history. This includes participation in failure analysis events, datamining for chronic failures, and a drive for results on preventable chronic failures.
- Assist in managing the business unit area maintenance budget by managing overtime and maintenance spending.
- Ensure maintenance resources are efficiently utilized. Work with Contract Maintenance Supervisors and Area Maintenance Managers to request maintenance resources for temporary needs, like outages and/or field days.
- Properly maintain and prioritize business unit area backlogs.
- Perform the role of Area Outage Coordinator.
- Maintain the outage MS Project schedule(s) for the business unit area and ensure outage execution meets the planned schedule.
- Ensure all outage planning tasks follow the T-minus corporate outage planning standard including completion of post outage activities such as critiques.
- Assist in area physical assessment improvements
- Ensure maintenance and operating areas are maintained to 5S standards
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Education – Prefer an engineer with 5+ years’ experience in the paper industry. Non-degreed candidates may be acceptable with experience and demonstrated abilities that fits the role.
- Experience – The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of maintenance/engineering or production experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have excellent computer skills and be able to master Microsoft Project, SAP-PM and Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership skills combined with technical knowledge and operations experience in pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral) with proven ability to coach, educate and motivate.
- Understanding and commitment to the concepts of high performance work systems and change management.
