The Manufacturing Engineer provides direct support to the day to day production activities; Daily tasks will be focused on the actual implementation activities related to identified production maintenance and improvements projects.

Who you’ll work with

The Manufacturing Engineer reports directly to Director of Operations and interacts regularly with manufacturing and production staff as well as various levels of management and both internal and external customers.

Analyze engineering design documents (drawings, specifications, technique sheets, etc.) to establish manufacturing processes
Document requirements using structured problem solving tools (e.g. requirements matrix) to support problem resolution
Analyze customer and regulatory requirements (e.g. engineering data, specifications, test plans, FAR, AS9100, etc.) to ensure manufacturing and testing processes will achieve requirements
Document requirements using structured problem solving tools (e.g. requirements matrix) to support problem resolution
Maintain and Create part numbers, assemblies and bill of materials in ERP system.
Maintain and Create job cards, rework orders, sub contract work orders, condition of supply statements
Maintain and Create work instructions for processes and operations, physical and/or electronic
Work effectively on the Material Review Board for processing non-conforming product, analyze discrepant parts, disposition non-confirming material reports and prepares rework/repair procedures and supporting documentation, as required.
Instructs production workers and shop supervisors in proper use of tools and implementation of planned methods and processes, and provides technical support as problems occur, analyzing and researching solutions and implementing corrective action, as needed.
Promote a continuous improvement culture
Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements to reduce product defects and/or improve process efficiency
Coordinate process improvement, cost reduction and/or defect reduction projects. This includes using Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as Process Validation, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Problem Solving skills to address manufacturing and quality issues. Employ all ME Project Tools as necessary.
Identify non-conformance causes and implement robust corrective actions, assist in Practical Problem Solving
Provide data for and assist with ME Dashboard metrics and objectives reporting as required
Support equipment and tooling improvements, upgrades and maintenance requirements
Assist with transition of new products from development to serial production
Planning, design, and implementation of tooling to support manufacturing processes
Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers and co-workers
Develop and foster strong internal relationships throughout the organization
Support company values including ethical conduct and integrity in all actions
Work is closely to occasionally managed in all aspects, depending on level self-direction
Promote and maintain a safe working environment

About you

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
1+ year(s) experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing/production environment required.
U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
Additional Qualifications

Experience in aerospace industry in a mechanical engineering role highly preferred.
Technical problem solving for processing anomalies or defects in assemblies or components preferred.
Structured problem solving tools (PFMEA, 8D, 5-why, etc.) preferred.
Advanced computer skills: General ERP understanding as well as Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience in Six Sigma and/or other Lean principles.
Knowledge of AS9100 and/or FAA requirements.
Internal audit training/experience.
Ability to organize and implement multiple concurrent tasks.
Excellent communications skills.
GKN experience preferred.
