The role of the Design Assistant is to support Design Team production art needs during program and custom product development.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with Design Managers and Sr. Designers in building prototype tech packs for all custom design sessions, seasonal program product and New Era retail custom product
- Create and submit seasonal and custom design concepts to Art Approval Department for league/team conceptual approvals
- Effectively communicates with Global Sourcing team for prototype tech pack needs and revisions
- Reviews prototype samples against tech packs for production accuracy
- Creates seasonal logo instruction templates for designing team/league logos
- Effectively processes approved custom artwork for digitizing process through Job Tracker software
- Ability to replicate a specific design across multiple teams/non-licensed designs for GCP programs
- Understand and utilize ROAL to search custom GCP program designs
- Creates and maintains templates for production of seasonal prototype needs
- When needed redraw customer logo/artwork from pre-existing non-vector artwork
- Meets or exceeds timelines associated with seasonal calendars
- When workload allows sit through Design Sessions and document all design needs for product designed
- Keeps all sensitive matters confidential
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the limitations to the embroidery and screenprinting process
- Demonstrates a strong graphic design ability; can provide a portfolio of creative work demonstrating this
- Demonstrates a limited knowledge of professional sports leagues and teams
- Experience in a Mac environment with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Takes accurate and complete notes on the content presented during project handoff
- Ability to manage multiple design projects on a daily basis while meeting established deadlines
- Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team player
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
- Positive attitude and able to work in a fast paced environment
Education and Experience
- Degree or certification in Graphic Design, Fashion Design or Communication Arts
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a graphic/product design environment
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a soft goods embroidery/screenprinting environment
