Role / Title:
Our Accounting team is looking for a Manager to lead the Product Costing group in the monthly close process for internal manufacturing locations, which includes overseeing product costing transactions and processes for all US and CAN internal manufacturing locations. As a Manager, you will ensure the critical preparation of monthly reporting and build relationships with Manufacturing personnel to review and understand local operations, metrics, and results. You will also help ensure the appropriate design and operating effectiveness of the internal control and policy/procedural environments governing operational and transactional accounting.
Key Components of the role:
Provide oversight to the Product Costing processes while supporting Manufacturing & Finance teams
Analyze monthly variances in financial results
Partner with cross functional teams including: Supply Chain Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Inventory Controls
Work to ensure standardization of processes and adoption of "best practices" across locations
Develop training materials and conduct trainings for Accounting, Finance, and Operations stakeholders as needed
Draft and/or update existing financial, accounting and other business policies, including technical accounting guidance, as needed, to support the business
Support all financial related audits including compliance, internal, external, and SOX
Directly supervise analyst and senior analyst staff, including general hiring and training, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance
Review of analysts and senior analysts work during the monthly close process, including inventory reconciliations and true-ups, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliations
Development of new processes as needed by the business to support growth, strategy shifts, and/or “continuous improvement initiatives”
Oversee a team of 5 Sr Accountants
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 4 years of experience in a complex environment with escalating levels of responsibility
Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or large regional firm a plus
CPA or CMA a plus
Superior written and oral communication skills
Prior experience managing direct reports required
Strong understanding of internal controls
Advanced abilities in Excel and PowerPoint
Technology savvy with demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly
Ability to produce high quality work in ambiguous environments, analytically interpret financial information and improve business processes
Ability to effectively lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization
Manufacturing or Logistics accounting experience desired
