The responsibilities of the Bookkeeper include keeping financial records updated, running payroll, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. This position will process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful bookkeeper should be familiar with all accounting and payroll procedures and ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with an aptitude for numbers, outstanding organizational skills, and a high attention to detail to efficiently assist in a fast-paced, ever-changing operation. This position requires strong time management and customer service skills as well as an acute awareness of the importance of the details and accuracy of work.
Provide general accounting, payroll, and clerical support to the accounting department
Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, payroll reports, and statements regularly and accurately
Reconcile accounts, invoices, and petty cash logs in a timely manner
Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees for completeness and accuracy. Obtain supervisory approval of time card discrepancies and overtime approvals, as needed
Process bi-weekly payroll, with appropriate calculations for hours worked, overtime, taxes, time off, garnishments, and benefit deductions. Print and issue paychecks.
Process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts
Compile data and prepare a variety of reports.
Process employment verifications
Process and distribute reports for compensation, taxes paid, garnishments, and deductions
Calculate payroll taxes, benefit, and unemployment payments
Assists with a timely monthly closing
Answers all vendor inquiries.
Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.
Assists corporate financial officers and branch personnel as necessary.
Answer questions and concerns from employees related to relevant accounting and payroll topics
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in accounting and payroll
Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
Perform other work-related duties and special projects, as assigned.
Associate degree and 3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience with basic knowledge of accounting principles or combination of related education and applicable experience.
Proven accounting experience, preferably as bookkeeper, accounting, or payroll clerk. Multistate experience is a plus
Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations
Computer savvy with competency in Office (Excel, Word, etc), QuickBooks, databases, and accounting software
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in organization, time management, and problem-solving
High attention to detail and ability to multi-task is a must
Accuracy and high attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and great understanding of the concept of confidentiality
Ability to perform data entry, processing, filing, and record keeping tasks, with accuracy in a timely manner
Ability to work independently and efficiently, organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
Must maintain Nevada Agent work cards and other requirements set by the city, i.e.: key employee status.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
