Examples of Duties
  • Safely operate a school bus/van in all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow, and ice
  • Maintain discipline among students on the school bus
  • Report all safety hazards to the proper authorities
  • Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and OSPI published policies
  • Complete forms, records, route sheets, schedules and reports as required by the State and District policies
  • Report all mechanical problems on the proper forms
  • Inspect school bus daily prior to operation in accordance with state regulations and district expectations
  • Clean interior and exterior of vehicle according to departmental procedures; refuel in accordance with State and District procedures

Typical Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license or commercial driver's license Class B
  • Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician
  • Possess current first aid certification
  • Acceptable driving record as defined in WAC 392-144-103 (2)(3). Driving record free of all major violations such as DWI or negligent driving, with a limited number of minor violations.
