This position supports the General Services Administration (GSA) CAMEO program. The Karsun team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement (DM&E) and operation of selected GSA Federal Acquisition IT Systems. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust. The GSA CAMEO program supports the operations of multiple business applications, as well as development of new applications across different technologies. The Karsun software development team is responsible for the software design and implementation of web applications supporting multiple Business Lines within GSA. Successful candidates are modern web development specialists experienced in translating business requirements into software architecture. In addition to strong software development skills, ideal candidates have demonstrated experience in working on an Agile Scrum team. Position location is in Herndon, VA.
The selected candidate will interact with Karsun’s good client and be an integral component of an internal team of positive and enthusiastic IT professionals, who contribute to Karsun’s growing portfolio. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and managing the delivery of enterprise-wide web technology solutions in Cloud platform. These technologies include RESTful APIs, flexible schema, mobile development technologies, J2EE and AngularJS. This candidate will be responsible for translating overall conceptual solution to software framework and developing working prototype to prove the concept. The Development Lead is expected to have extensive experience in software development, integration with different systems, and solution roll-out or deployment
Lead the evaluation of functional/business and technical requirements and identify gaps/risks.
Direct and mentor teams of resources in technical delivery aspects including design and code reviews.
Provide requirements analysis in order to create System Design Document to include detail software architecture diagram, logical and physical deployment views using UML
Serves as the technical and technology expert supporting the crafting of the application architecture aspects of the solution, as well as supporting the implementation of the solution.
Provides validation of proposed technical architectures and solutions.
Reviews proposed enhancements to validate feasibility and assists with scoping and estimating work.
In coordination with others, monitors and analyzes production performance, while looking for ways to optimize and scale existing solutions.
Ensures strategies, standards, and architecture are consistent and well integrated across products.
Approves architecture designs with a focus on standards, performance, flexibility, scalability and security.
Make recommendations about platform and technology adoption, including database servers, application servers, libraries, and frameworks
Write proof-of-concept code (may also participate in writing production code)
Assist project managers in setting schedules for new technology adoption
Keep skills up to date through ongoing self-directed training
Recommend senior management on improvement areas
Help application developers to adopt new platforms through documentation, training, and mentoring
10+ years of full-lifecycle application development experience
Must have experience in the following database platforms: Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server Knowledge of these database platforms is also helpful: and Cloud platforms, i.e., MS Azure & AWS
3+ years of experience using Agile/Lean methodologies
Deep understanding of industry patterns for application architecture and integration
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and comprehend technical details clearly
Understanding of Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) and concepts & methodology
Qualifications ( Education/Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Master's degree preferred
Must be able to obtain Federal Government Public Trust
