The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Paralegal I in the Public Services Department to perform a variety of entry-level paralegal and paraprofessional work in support of an assigned department including performing research and reference services and assisting in the preparation of legal documents; and to provide responsible staff assistance to an assigned department director or other supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct real property title searches; prepare abstract of the title for acquisitions and petitions.
Conduct 30-year title examinations to determine chain of title necessary in identifying responsible property owners.
Communicate with property owners regarding the City's intent for specific projects, the need for permanent or temporary easement, and initial discussions of operations available to property owners.
Assist in the preparation of descriptions and forms including Letters of Intent, resolutions, interdepartmental memoranda and assessment rolls.
Compose, prepare and distribute a variety of correspondence, documents and reports for City attorneys, mortgage companies, property owners, and/or other interested parties.
Research and procure data for various departments, outside agencies and the general public related to property ownership, property characteristics, and/or other related items.
Prepare, index, maintain and update real estate property files as assigned; organize data and confirm information for routine and pre-audit purposes.
Assist in the preparation of legal documents or instruments.
Operate a variety of office equipment including copiers, facsimile machines and computers; input and retrieve data and text; organize and maintain disk storage and filing.
Process accounts payables and receivables if required by department for which assigned; maintain related records and vendor files.
Prepare monthly invoices if required by department for which assigned; requisition supplies and materials as required.
