Summary

The Director of Alumni & Foundation Services oversees and manages the National American University (NAU) alumni and the nonprofit NAU Foundation programs in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university.

Minimum Qualifications

The Director of Alumni & Foundation Services must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in related field required;or

2. Five years of related work experience; experience in alumni and foundation services preferred.

The Director of Alumni & Foundation Services must possess the following skills and attributes: excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven management/leadership abilities;thorough understanding of university policies; problem-solving and organizational skills; fluency in computer applications, including word processing, e-mail, Internet, database programs and presentation software;keyboard; math and reasoning skills; requires concentration and attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to lead, plan and manage change; demonstrated ability to be a well-organized self-starter and work effectively within a team, with the proven ability to multi-task, set work priorities, track projects with meticulous detail and meet deadlines; high regard for quality and accuracy, attention to details; excellent organizational and time management skills (ability to plan, prioritize and work on various projects and to maintain confidentiality); highest level of interpersonal skills including excellent listening, public speaking, ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences; demonstrated ability to problem-solve using analytical and reasoning skills to maintain, identify, and make recommendations to improve operations systems.

This position will provide programmatic and administrative support for scholarship activities, and will ensure that the Foundation’s programmatic goals and objectives are achieved. Under the guidance of NAU for alumni services and the NAU Foundation Board for scholarship and other Foundation activities, this position is responsible for three primary areas with a keen focus on database management: 1) managing the Foundation’s general and donor-advised scholarship programs, to include coordinating the scholarship application processes; 2) developing resources for the NAU Foundation’s scholarship programs through fundraising, awareness and philanthropic partnerships; and 3) coordinating all alumni communication and engagement programs and initiatives.

Required Work Hours

Full-time; 40 hours per week with additional hours as needed to complete necessary job requirements. Some evening and weekend hours may apply.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

1. The Director of Alumni & Foundation Services reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

2. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

The Director of Alumni & Foundation Services must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend.

Travel

Periodic travel,including airline travel and overnight stays, may be required.
