United Staffing Associates is seeking an accomplished individual to perform a variety of responsibilities ranging from Workers' Compensation claim intake to hands-on hazard evaluations. This opportunity is an internal position with our firm.
Duties include:
- Facilitate claim intake for Workers’ Compensation injuries and illnesses, to include initial claim form completion, accident investigations, frequent communication with Occupational Medicine physicians, transportation of injured workers (when feasible and safe), liaison with OSHA investigators (with management approval), frequent communication with Claims Administrator, post-accident drug testing (as outlined in Company policies), participation at depositions, WCAB appearances, etc.
- Performance of periodic site evaluations for all new clients and quarterly re-evaluations.
- Facilitate onsite training for temporary workforce and follow-up consultations as necessary, including safety training meeting.
- Conduct periodic worksite audits to ensure compliance with the client’s and USA’s IIPP.
- Manage the Modified Work Program at the field-level; performs job function analysis with client to determine if modified duty is available.
- Perform safety related arrival calls for large client orders, ensures employees are setup up time clocks, issued proper PPE and footwear.
- Perform customer service check-ins with clients; deliver promotional items and performs inquiries to support excellent customer service.
- Assists with coordination of Employee Appreciation events.
- Troubleshoot TempWorks and Infinitime clock setups and clock failures.
- Responsible for PPE inventory, maintain supply and organize and track all PPE (issued or owned by USA).
- Devote a significant portion of your time (more than 50%) to independent assessment of safety processes at client sites.
- Provide frequent coaching to temporary workers regarding safety practices; enforcing policies and procedures by issuing on-the-spot discipline and other corrective action.
Qualifications:
- Possess an understanding of basic medical terms and have knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
- Possess a solid understanding of California Workers’ Compensation laws and assist with adherence to any such laws.
- Possess the ability to multitask, develop specific goals and to organize work and prioritize tasks in order to accomplish goals. Must maintain flexibility and responsiveness to client and company needs and demonstrate attention to detail and follow-through.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language required. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form preferred.
- Requires an intermediate understanding of technology utilized by the Company. Proficiency in computers, including MS Office software. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as use of a tablet or iPad, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Must be able to quickly gain an understanding of the relationship of all company positions to each other, and their impact on meeting company goals. Ability to work with others in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment, functioning as a team member.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization..
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; readily apply independent discretion and judgment in all situations.
- Ability to function autonomously with limited supervision.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience in risk management/health & safety specifically in an environment that handles food processing/handling, warehouse or distribution facilities, knowledge about high hazard equipment and materials, OR
- Minimum of 1 year working as a Risk Manager in the Agriculture industry, AND
- Occupational Health and Safety Training certification, Ergonomics certification and/or an Associate’s degree in a field related to Agriculture, Health & Safety or other related field(s).
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License; good driving record that meets requirements for insurability under the Company’s policy.
The position is based in Porterville and often supports the Lindsay branch team when needed and requires availability during the business hours of the branch and its clients (including periodic late night injury assistance), weekends, holidays and periodic overnight stays and other nonstandard hours as the need arises.
