Home Audio/Video Installation Technician- Baltimore, Maryland
Soundscape, an audio/video retail and custom installation company established in Baltimore City nearly 90 years ago, seeks a qualified, experienced installation technician to join their service team.
Typical tasks will be the installation of audio and video components and systems typical of high quality residential and light commercial systems, requiring specialized knowledge and experience. Familiarity with structured wiring is necessary. Often you will be working in upscale residences and interacting with homeowners. Professional appearance is required, and strong interpersonal communication/customer service skills are an important component for success in this position.
REQUIRED SKILLS: The following are the ideal for a perfect candidate but there is significant leeway under certain circumstances.
-A thorough knowledge of modern audio/video components and the ability to setup and configure an entire system independently.
-Ability to set up wireless routers and networks and troubleshoot them.
-Familiarity with programming for URC, Total Control, etc.
-Skilled at attaching terminations to all types of cables used in audio and video installations, and familiarity with the joys and pleasures of structured wiring.
-Experience with troubleshooting various types of audio and video systems.
-Experienced, skilled and comfortable using various handheld power tools.
-Experienced and comfortable working on ladders.
-Normal color vision and hearing acuity.
-Skilled at reading and writing fluently in English.
-Must be able to work collaboratively with others
-Must be comfortable working both under supervision or independently.
-Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs routinely, such as large televisions or heavy amplifiers, and occasionally up to 75 lbs for short distances.
-Must be able to and comfortable working in tight spaces such as crawl spaces, attics, both finished and unfinished, and closets.
-Must be able to work sitting/standing/squatting etc. over the course of an 8 hour work day without any physical restrictions.
-Must be available to work out of town up to ten (10) weeks per year, sometimes independently, and staying overnight. Additional compensation is provided in these situations. Typical work week is Monday-Friday but weekends are sometimes required.
-Must have a valid Maryland driver's license and good driving record.
-Must pass a background check and drug test if requested at any time.
This is not an apprentice or entry level position. While some training on certain specific components will be given, the position is for an experienced installer.
Compensation: Based upon skills and experience.
