Senior Flavorist, Sweet Creation will focus on creative flavor development and commercialization, technical innovation, successful mentoring and training, and active customer engagement. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop flavor solutions including new creations, duplications, and modifications across a broad range of sweet flavor profiles to meet customer and internal project requirements.
Develop and apply appropriate methods to test stability of aroma chemicals and flavor materials through processing and application.
Interpret, assess and apply analytical data for problem solving and flavor duplication projects to successful endpoint
Drive the investigation and discovery of new ingredients technologies, materials, and methods that will provide innovative solutions to customer and industry challenges.
Generate & champion new innovative ideas, demonstrate feasibility and help commercialize successful ideas.
Serve as the flavor expert during the transfer of flavor formulas from lab to production by applying in-depth understanding of processes and operations to ensure successful product scale-up and troubleshooting of problems.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Application Specialists to create customized presentations for key/target clients.
Support and mentor Junior Flavorists and Technician staff.
Perform quality control tests on new flavor prototypes and initiate document generation with Quality Control and the Regulatory Departments.
Review material & Flavors for compliance with laws and regulatory requirements in the countries where Bell conducts business.
Participate in internal and external training and seminars for technical team.
Recognize problems, gather and interpret significant data to find creative solutions to complex issues.
Prepare and maintain accurate recordkeeping on all projects assigned.
Utilize good time management skills while working under pressure.
Follow all Federal, State, Lab and local safety regulations in performing work requirements.
Education, Training and/or Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university, preferably in Food Sciences, Chemistry or related field of study
Extensive knowledge and experience developing flavors for sweet applications such as confectionary, beverages, and bakery items, etc.
Five to nine years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certified member of the Society of Flavor Chemists
Microsoft Proficient, including word, excel, calendar; Share point and Product Vision knowledge preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets the most complex documents
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Ability to speak, read and write English and preferable another language likes Spanish, French or German
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, and taste or smell
Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
