The Retail Web Technology (RWT) department at Charles Schwab is a leading-edge organization in terms of technical strategy and delivery. We are currently undergoing a transformation to a more agile/lean process methodology, and adopting continuous integration/continuous delivery. We are implementing cutting edge practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Paired Programming. We are also adopting Lean Management practices such as Standard Work, Visual Management Systems and Gemba Walks. The primary responsibility of the Managing Director within Retail Web Technologies is to manage software delivery of quality solutions on the www.schwab.com and m.schwab.com platforms.
What you’ll do:
This role will include ownership for both Project and Maintenance work. This individual will engage primarily with direct and indirect reports and business partners, including application developers, technical analysts, architects, QA, Project Managers, program management, business partners, domain partners, as well as cross enterprise Managers and Officers.
This individual has strong organizational and people leadership capabilities to manage multiple Agile Product Development teams. You are an excellent communicator with the ability to quickly understand, align, and convey Retail Web Technology's services to senior business leadership and partners. Candidates should have a passion for understanding emerging technologies and managing the deployment of same where appropriate.
What you have:
15+ years of IT project experience in technical, project and offshore vendor management capabilities.
10+ years of people management experience, growing and fostering talent to create an energized, dynamic and accountable organization.
5+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies using Agile practices in planning, implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management.
Strong technology affinity and experience, attention to detail & the ability to design, execute & maintain strategic goals & metrics.
Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology & trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support, application development, and database admin. including: client/server, web services, portal, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security & business intelligence.
Professional experience leading teams that built distributed scalable enterprise-class applications using C#/.NET
Knowledge of client side frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, Ember), design patterns, micro-* (WebAPI, RESTful), and modern software delivery practices including Lean
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations.
Experience in the Financial Services Industry
Conceptual understanding and/or working knowledge of Web Content Management Systems
