The Regional Controller oversees daily and periodic accounting/general ledger activities and provide analytical accounting support for multiple distribution centers and their operations. Work to develop annual operating budgets, financial statements and support period end close. Provide financial support and ensure that all controls are maintained for cash receipts, fixed assets and accounts payable. Develop financial projects to assist management in creating short and long term financial goals and strategies.
Oversee daily accounting activities while providing financial support that contributes or ensures accuracy in financial decisions.
Prepare and review account reconciliations while monitoring for potential variances.
Ensure the periodic financial statements are prepared and submitted for approval within established timeframes.
Manage period end closing tasks including journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation.
Monitor and analyze costs and capital expenditures prior to reviewing and issuing purchase orders while ensuring the proper purchasing procedures are followed.
Work with operations and senior management in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Provide daily financial support to operational teams.
Review sales and use tax calculations
Responsible for ensuring Company financial practices are in compliance with applicable government and other regulatory agency requirements.
Analyze financial statements on a periodic basis and advise on trends or areas for improvement.
Provide training in a variety of financial concepts to a variety of audiences.
Work with vendors to improve/maintain service levels while reducing costs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in corporate accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, financial analysis and other financial activity.
Solid understanding of business practices and GAAP.
Evidence of ability to work with mathematical concepts and to apply concepts to daily accounting activities.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software (including advanced proficiency in Excel), and working knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
Demonstrated organization, time management and planning skills with evidence of ability to handle multiple deadline-oriented responsibilities.
Highly developed communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to a variety of audiences.
Evidence of highly developed analytical and decision-making skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
CPA or Masters Degree in Finance or Business Administration.
