About the Role
The Director, HRSS & Payroll Operations is responsible for directing the strategy and execution of the Regional Payroll Operations and HRSSC’s (Human Resources Shared Service Centers) as Centers of Excellence, focused on customer service, compliance, and accuracy for the 10k employees in North America. This role is also responsible for providing the vision, leadership, strategic planning, project coordination and direction of the Americas Regional Payroll Operations and HRSSC’s. This individual will support the VP, Global Rewards, HR Technology & Analytics & the Senior Director, Global HR Technology & Analytics in the execution of HR strategy by leading and managing HRSS & Payroll Operations related projects.
This position will manage a team of up to 30 employees, with three direct reports, which include the Manager, HRSS & US Payroll, the HRSS Sr. Manager in Mexico, and Manager, Payroll Tax & Reporting.
What You Will Do
Direct the strategy and execution of the HRSSC and Payroll Operations business processes, transactional accuracy, compliance measures, and service delivery for the Americas.
Establish policies and procedures for the HRSSC and Payroll Operations, and drive synergies between the two regional SSC’s in the Americas and leverage best practices from SSC’s in other countries.
Oversight of the payroll processes across the North American Region, to ensure timely, accurate, and legally compliant payroll each pay period.
Establish and maintain appropriate audit controls for the payroll and data entry processes.
Promotes proactive approach to using technology to solve business needs/problems while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of systems and capabilities with our Business Partners and employees.
Strategic planning, forecasting and managing HRSSC and Payroll resources and process workflows to ensure transactions, inquiries, and processes are executed, resolved, and assigned to maximize efficiency and scale.
Focus on continuous improvement, while identifying opportunities to increase the ROI of the HRSSC’s.
Responsible for the oversight and review of all payroll tax activities, including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Oversee all year-end and year-begin processes, according to most current payroll regulations.
Initiate and manage projects that will further enhance or streamline operations.
Create and present reporting metrics/dashboards to senior leadership that accurately depicts the transaction quality, volume, and service level of the HRSSC.
Develop policies and service level agreements (SLA’s) that support a tiered approach to issue resolution.
Design and manage KPI’s to ensure the HRSSC’s are performing to their optimum capability and meeting or exceeding their SLA’s.
Interact closely with peer Directors in the HR Business community to ensure the scope, service levels, and contributions of the Service Centers are meeting and exceeding expectations and agreed upon goals.
Coach team members to further develop their skills, commitment to excellence, and motivation towards continuous improvement.
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and/or Business Administration, or related field
A minimum of 10 years of diverse work experience in Human Resource or Operations that includes a focus in Shared Services
A minimum of 7 years managing a team of employees, including responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance
A proven track record of progressive HR experience at a manager level is required
High proficiency in making decisions by consistently proposing quality solutions and answers to issues by gathering extensive data, conducting research, and presenting a recommended solution to all parties involved
Successful experience in leading multi-disciplined work teams within a dynamic environment (HR/SSC) including performance management and customer relationships.
Ability to see broadly and anticipate strategic changes in the business, in order to translate that into necessary process/technology/structural changes in the HRSSC to support the needs of the business
Excellent project management skills including the ability to organize, execute, and plan projects, with the ability to develop detailed work plans with appropriate resource requirements
Must be able to manage multiple priorities, think tactically as well as strategically, demonstrate objectivity, be results oriented, show initiative, creativity, and have a bias toward action
Ability to analyze project and business needs to determine resources necessary to meet objectives
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
Strong communication, relationship building, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership, customer service, and organizational skills
Strong team building and coaching skills
Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
What is Nice to Have
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
International payroll and SSC experience
What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel up to 25%, domestic only OR domestic and international travel
Willingness to work in an office in Northridge CA, Novi MI, Richardson TX or Stamford CT.
