HOME VISITOR – Full-time, Waterbury
Position available in an Early Head Start/Home-Based program designed to provide high-quality child and family development services to low-income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers through 3 years of age. Responsibilities will include: 1) overseeing a caseload of 10-12 families including weekly 90 minute home visits, 2) implementing curriculum for child development during home visits and during playgroup socialization experiences, 3) assisting with recruitment, eligibility determination and intake assessments, 4) facilitating group socialization experiences and other family group activities, 5) conducting ongoing screenings and assessments of maternal health and child development goals, 6) assisting with the implementation of Parents and Teachers Foundational Training and Model Implementation, 7) collaborating with families to establish family development goals, 8) providing education and support services as well as crisis intervention and resource referral, 9) documenting home visits, socialization experiences and other activities and reporting on outcomes as needed, 10) monitoring and educating parents with regard to children’s health status including medical follow-ups, physical health, dental health and nutrition.
Requirements include an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Services or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred) with 2+ year’s relevant experience. Must have: 1) knowledge of Early Childhood Education and developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers as well as experience with individualized and group lesson planning, 2) ability to work with diverse population including low income, 3) willingness to work primarily in homes of low-income families, 4) strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, 5) knowledge of community resources, 6) computer skills including MS Office, and 7) ability to work outside normally scheduled hours. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
