Primary Function -
This position is responsible for: Providing the administrative oversight and leading the Nemours Nursing and Patient Care Services vision and mission for research. This includes the strategic alignment of nursing and inter-professional research within the Delaware Valley while fostering a spirit of inquiry and professional engagement, encouraging and supporting the mission of conducting research. This individual is expected to develop a progressive program of federally funded research or funding from foundation sources. This individual will mentor and oversee all work by the Nursing Research Coordinator. Additionally, this individual will develop nurse scholars in the area of grant submission as they submit for small funding opportunities available through nursing organizations. This position will ensure the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of a program of nursing research and evidence based clinical nursing practice that is, aligned with Nemours Research Strategy, and developed in collaboration with nurses and other health care providers and researchers. This program will also serve to increase the knowledge and skills of nursing staff related to the research process and implement strategies to communicate nursing research activities. Visionary leadership includes strategic planning, ensuring evidence based care delivery, benchmarked quality patient service and outcomes, networking with nurse scientists, experience with LEAN methodology (or similar) for continuous improvement, well developed change management skills, and fiscal stewardship.
Essential Functions – Engages in the conduct of sustainable outside funded clinical research at a significant percent of effort. Engages in collaborative research across the enterprise and promotes interdisciplinary research. Monitors literature for studies relevant to specialty practice, and outcomes of care or with specific administrative or implementation science relevance. Develops infrastructure and oversees programs that educates and mentors Nurses in conducting research, presentation and publication. Contributes to external peer reviewed publications and internal publications and develops creative strategies to disseminate nursing research to nursing staff and other appropriate personnel. Mentors Nurse Managers, Advanced Practice Nurses, and Nurse Associates to evaluate and apply appropriate nursing research in their areas of responsibility. Promotes a professional practice environment by fostering a spirit of inquiry, scholarly activity, evidence based practice and research utilization. Provides leadership for the Nursing Research Committee and represents Nursing on various Nemours Research boards and committees. Participates in appropriate professional organizations Represents Nemours nationally in leadership positions. Works to increase Nemours profile as well as generate collaboration across institutions Must have the ability to work well with others Regular attendance is required. Excellent communications and collaborative skills are required.
RN, Ph.D. with proven success in leading/developing a nursing research program preferredActive Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
