MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE. MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO TRAVEL FOR EXTENSIVE PERIODS OF TIME. THIS POSITION PAYS $11.00 TO $15.00 PER HOUR.
Under moderate supervision, the candidate will work with a team to perform Ship and or Shore electrical/electronic installations. Specifically related to the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the Military Sealift Command. the candidate shall demonstrate a knowledge of Ship and Shore installation execution including removal of equipment, analysis and development of platforms, systems, and war fighting capabilities and the systems interoperability. The candidate will test, evaluate, and repair offship and shore based systems. Specifically, the candidate will: * Possess a demonstrable knowledge and ability of the principles of electricity, electronics, shipboard (and sometimes shore) installations as governed by federal directive installation requirements and supporting documentation; * Move material and equipment to and from installation sites; * Sets up work boundaries, stages tools, equipment, and material; * Assist in fit-up and weld operations including being a firewatch when necessary; * Open and close cableways, cable ducts, multi-cable transits, and cable trays at ship or shore location as directed; * Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. may troubleshoot and correctproblems by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents; * Assists in termination of various types and sizes of copper and fiber optic cables while ensuring methods and materialsare in accordance with customer or manufacturer specifications; * Provide installation and repair assistance during System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs); * Follow company safety policies and procedures as well as those of the host ship or shore installation location; and * Clean worksite areas and accomplishes routine and final cleanup of the installation location and surrounding area(s) as directed.
T_ _his is a Non-Exempt Position that may require a person to be able and willing to work 7 days a week in excess of 8 hours a day for weeks on end AND be able and willing to travel out of town and/or overseas for extended periods of time (sometimes can be in excess or up to 4 to 6 weeks at a time ).
The following special skills are required: **

  • Must possess a good command of the English language in oral and written communication;
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrable ability and knowledge in installation, modification, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical or electronic systems and equipment;
  • Must be familiar with shipyard and DOD installation requirements and supporting documentation;
  • MUST HAVE OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A GOVERNMENT ACTIVE CLASSIFIED CLEARANCE PRIOR TO START OF EMPLOYMENT; AND
  • MUST HAVE OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A U.S. PASSPORT WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.

The following are a plus:

  • NAVSEA Accepted Shipboard Cableway Installation and Inspection Qualification or Third-Party Certification
  • Active CPR/AED Certification;
  • Multi-Pin Connector Qualification or Certification for both solder and crimp type connectors;
  • IPC, J-STD-001CS, Solder Certification;
  • IPC, WHMA-A-620, Solder Certification;
  • Fiber Optic Connector Qualification or Certification for all three types of connectors; and
  • Optical Time-Domain Refractometer (OTDR) Qualified.

  • BICIS Certified
