We seek an enthusiastic Employment Marketing and Branding Content Writer with knowledge in Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Acquisition Strategy, and Candidate Experience. This Content Writer will be responsible for leading key projects across HR that bring to life the Discover employee experience through written word. They are a champion for careers at Discover in order to attract top talent. With their ability to craft compelling messaging geared toward specific talent populations they will help increase Discover employer brand awareness and relevance by meeting the candidates’ needs and expectations.
With a proven ability to understand the intricacies of a company’s unique culture and voice, the Candidate Brand Content Writer will reflect those through branded writing. This team member must be able to identify audience needs and subtly shift language to meet those. Passion for teamwork and forming meaningful relationships across an organization. Ability to think creatively about the ways to reach potential candidates and positively influence the candidate experience.
Develops content and crafts messages for publication primarily digital including blog posts, monthly TA newsletter, job descriptions, social media copy, candidate emails, event submissions etc. along with printed materials such as candidate brochures and materials that bring to life the various business units across Discover
Sample projects include X-Y blog articles
Refreshes to existing job descriptions to align to Discover employer brand tone and talent segment findings
Candidate journey emails that provide key information and a strong call to action, tailored to various candidate segments (e.g. Campus, Customer Service, etc.)
Manages writing and approval schedules to complete projects within deadlines including reviews with Legal, HR Risk (when applicable), Candidate Brand team leads and business partners
Ability to understand the different needs for various talent audiences and leverages the Discover Employee Value Proposition to bring to life the employee experience that most aligns to the audience
Ability to and experience with of representing a diverse collection of employees across Discover to showcase the company’s “Feel at Home here” EVP pillar
Contributes to employee experience projects, including bylines for articles and blogs, conducts interviews, develops articles, updates the career website content to align to the employee voice, and other copy-specific projects
Conducts competitive landscape analysis for content in order to bring new ideas and perspectives to what is possible for Discover. Actively seeks out learning opportunities from other offerings in the market.
Collaborates with team’s designer along with both internal and external creative teams, program owners, PR teammates, and other internal/external experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our target talent audience.
Reviews various content / copy pieces for other areas of the HR organization. Acts as the team SME for all things writing and content.
Ensures consistent brand tone and voice across candidate brand and recruitment marketing content
Uses search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility of a website in search results.
- Highly creative and effective content writer and editor.
- Excellent project management skills with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Simplifies complex messages to promote understanding by prospects and internal teams.
- Ability to analyze and rely on data to make and influence decisions.
- Displays excellent relationship building skills and works well cross-functionally.
- Proficient with computer software and MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Education or background in writing.
- Minimum of 5 years content writing experience is required.
- Experience producing online content including email, mobile, social, CRM or multi-channel marketing required.
- Experience with PowerPoint and web-based presentation software required.
- Writing/content production in a Human Resources/Talent Acquisition team is preferred.
