What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI has an exciting opportunity for an AWS Cloud Operations Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
More About the Role:
In this role you will:
Have a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to interface with the government client, users, administrators, managers, and peer engineers. You are responsible for maintaining and managing production application Amazon AWS systems including operations & maintenance.
Engineer, install, maintain, configure, and optimize Microsoft server operating systems and hosted applications.
Perform analysis for collaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software using a project-based timeline.
Apply appropriate security measures to properly safeguard government systems by implementing industry standard best practices and DHS mandated mitigations.
Support the distribution of security patches throughout the enterprise using Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and other enterprise level tools.
Participate in on-call rotation to handle and resolve high severity technical escalations.
Design, build, test and deploy highly scalable and resilient cloud-based applications on private and public clouds.
Design and implement appropriate environments for those applications, engineer suitable release management procedures and provide production support.
Influence other teams and broader Engineering groups in adopting Cloud technologies, processes, and best practices.
Redesign legacy applications for Cloud implementation.
Automate the provisioning of environments with Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
Troubleshoot problems, involving the appropriate resources and driving resolution of issues with a focus on minimizing impact to our clients.
Participate in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features.
Collaborate with product owners (researchers and software developers) to identify and design topologies for custom business and scientific applications in AWS as part of our container PaaS, or as a custom solution.
Provide guidance for adhering to best practices for optimal and secure use of cloud technologies.
Assist development teams in migrating their products from on-prem infrastructure to AWS.
Work with other Cloud Solutions Engineers to develop prototypes and enhance or expand fundamental capabilities offered in the PaaS and containerized or serverless workloads.
Participate in a daily stand-up meeting to report your accomplishments, plans for the day, and any roadblocks you encountered.
Drive improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment.
Prepare, participate, present in Change Management process, Technical Review Board, and Change Control Board.
Document all work and updates in Service Now, JIRA, Confluence.
Document standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions, guides, network diagrams, knowledge base articles.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
Ability to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry on Duty (EOD)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent + 10 years of applicable experience.
3+ years of Amazon AWS cloud support experience in a production environment including network, security, deployment, and automation.
Knowledge of commonly used AWS services, such as IAM, VPC, S3, EC2, CloudWatch and CloudTrail, Route 53, RDS, SSM and Lambda.
At least one Amazon AWS cloud certification.
3+ years supporting Microsoft Server and applications in a production environment including scripting.
Experience with Deployment Management tools such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet.
Experience collaborating across multiple functional/technical teams to deliver a project.
Provide on-call support for emergencies.
Demonstrated growth mindset, enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying gained knowledge to address business problems.
Ability to communicate with client on a business level and translate their needs into a technical solution.
Experience working with Agile Development practices.
2+ years of experience in technology delivery in a DevOps environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in interpersonal and written formats.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Knowledge of IT strategy and management desirable.
Previous DHS experience.
