A Junior Systems Administrator / Web Hosting Engineer is responsible for building, documenting, maintaining and troubleshooting shared, virtual, dedicated and cloud based hosting environments for clients and internal systems. This position is perfect for a Computer Science graduate that is looking for their first IT job.

Role & Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with clients and provide excellent support via phone, email and tickets
Design, build and scale customer and application specific web hosting environments
Troubleshoot web application performance and security problems
Install/upgrade/replace server, device or network components
Perform web application load testing and benchmarking
Perform security scans and mitigate problems or vulnerabilities
Perform server administrative tasks
Perform network administration tasks, including DNS, DHCP and IP subnetting
Perform firewall policy and IDP administration tasks
Perform network cable installation and removal to support infrastructure needs as needed
Perform server maintenance and patching
Perform migrations of legacy web applications and software
Script complex tasks and deployments using PowerShell and BASH
Provide after-hours support and respond to monitoring alerts when needed
Write documentation for team processes and procedures
Write documentation for infrastructure, software, changes and deployments
Define, document and analyze client support requests and escalate appropriately, utilize internal ticketing system, and resolving to client’s satisfaction in a timely manner
Ensuring that AtlanticBT IT policies, standards and procedures are consistently being achieved
Represent AtlanticBT internally and externally as an IT resource
Provide project retro feedback

Desired Qualifications:
Familiar with web hosting applications and related activities
Red Hat or CentOS Linux
Microsoft Server
MS SQL Server
Dependable and professional
Positive, self-motivated, quick learner
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to work independently and with a team of peers
Ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed and willingness to take responsibility for them

Nice to have:
1 year + experience with high availability web hosting applications and related activities
Web-based coding knowledge and experience
Understanding of IT architecture and best practices
Understanding of server and application security best practices and encryption
Database administration
Experience with AWS and/or VMware
Network engineering
Network, server and application monitoring

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This job requires routine desk and computer work.
