Loudoun County Public Library is currently seeking qualified applicants for a part-time (10 hrs/wk) Teen Services Library Assistant.
This position works five hours every Friday night at the Afterhours Teen Center, which is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
We seek an individual who will be an enthusiastic, creative team player with excellent communication skills and dedication to customer service. The successful candidate with serve as a member of the Teen Services department at Cascades Library and will assist with planning and implementing programs for teens. Other duties will include assisting customers of all ages by providing direct customer service with reference, reader's advisory, circulation functions and guiding customers on the use of a wide array of library resources and technologies.
A candidate strong in customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills is essential for this position.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Location is subject to change based on the Library system's operational needs.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma and two (2) years prior experience providing direct customer service to the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs
- Bilingual - Spanish/English
Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing 200 pounds.
Constant bending, stooping, reaching, walking and standing required.
Ability to lift 40 pounds required.
Passport Acceptance Agent certification and Notary Public License may be required within one year of hire date.
